Beatification Set For
Parents of St. Therese

The Vatican has announced plans for
the beatification of the parents
of St. Therese of Lisieux.







Louis Martin and Zelie Marie Guerin Martin were beatified on
October 19, 2008 with the ceremony taking place in Lisieux, France.

The date of the ceremony is significant: October 19, 2008 was
Mission Sunday; St. Therese (along with St. Francis Xavier) is
co-patron of the Church's missionary effort.

The Causes of Louis and Zélie Martin were drawn up between 1957
and 1960 in two separate processes whose findings were sent to
Rome.

It is appropriate that the bodies of Louis and
Zélie were exhumed and buried side by side
near the apse of the Basilica of Lisieux,
dedicated to their child. Over their graves
are written the words of Thérèse, "God gave
me a mother and father more worthy of
heaven than of earth."
